1. Darlene reviewed the topic of our last meeting related to Human Resources issues. As follow up to the last meeting, a work group met to discuss all the HR issues. The workgroup looked at the following:
   • Pay as we compare to other agencies; found that Phoenix is competitive or above the market rate of pay
   • Wage increase criteria
   • Updated Employment Application form to include location preference and map
   • Developed a job expectation form (including a video) to be included in the application so there are no surprises when an employee begins working.
   • Welcome letter introducing new employees to the families, as well as signage at the house.
   • Interviewing procedures including behavior based interviews and retraining for managers
   • Assessing turnover data
   • Exit interviews
   • Updating our employee handbook.


2. Staff Development
   Pat Callinan reviewed the process for orientation, to include mission and philosophy, regulatory requirements, health care, documentation, etc. Recommendation from families that the first day include a piece about staff being able to “time themselves out”. Pat will include this as a bullet point in the training curriculum.
   • Families asked when they can expect to receive a copy of an incident report, vs. just being notified verbally of incidents. Phoenix will indicate this on the guardian notification form. All houses will check to see if the form is on file, and if not, will notify the guardian for completion of this form.

Families noted that the photos and names of staff on the white board is helpful. Families are also noticing better phone skills, taking messages, etc.

Will continue on the quarterly meeting schedule, without a December meeting (will hold January meeting). Next meeting will be on Wednesday March 26 at 6:15 pm., location to be determined. Will continue to discuss Employee Orientation topic.
