Leaders from The 5% Campaign have been busy this summer re-energizing in anticipation of the 2016 legislative session. Timelines have been developed and strategies are defined to help secure a rate increase in 2016. A long-term communications plan has also been refreshed with updated messaging and a new approach. Stay tuned as more information will be provided.
Our Fearless Leaders
The 5% Campaign is excited to announce the new co-chairs: parent-advocate Pam Gonnella and Steve Larson, Senior Policy Director for The Arc Minnesota. They will provide leadership and a strong voice for the campaign as we continue to educate legislators, Governor Dayton, the media, and the public on the importance of consistent, stable funding for Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS).
Summer Visits
A series of site visits for House Health & Human Service Finance and Reform legislators have been happening throughout the summer. The visits highlighted both day and residential services providing attendees with a better understanding of the important role Home and Community-Based Services play in the lives of people with disabilities and older adults.
Next Steps
Our biggest key to success in the past has been - and always will be - the powerful stories and messages from supporters like you! More information will be coming soon on ways you can get involved to ensure legislators and Governor Dayton prioritize people with disabilities, older adults, their families, and those who provide services in 2016.
Thanks again for your ongoing support!
