ANCOR & ARRM Urge Support for Disability Community
Both our trade associations recently submitted letters to Congress in support of the disability community.
ANCOR & ARRM have been hard at work lobbying with Congress and legislators for support of the disability community. With much funding still in limbo, how it will be distributed is still unknown, both on the local and state level.
On the local level, $250 million of the final 2021 state budget is set aside for 'hero pay' for some of Minnesota's most essential front-line workers. A panel of nine state legislators and state commissioners will make recommendations to the state legislature to consider during a Special Session in September.
ARRM, our local trade association, wrote a letter to the workgroup on behalf of all disability providers requesting that DSPs be included in this funding.
On the national level, ANCOR is fighting for us to be included in the Better Care Better Jobs Act. This $400 billion investment is slated for states to “develop and implement sustainable infrastructure improvement plans” and tools to address and access the workforce crisis. However, disability advocates warn that funding for our community is in jeopardy of being cut.
