Congressional Republicans, Congressional Democrats, and the White House are deep in negotiations on an impending COVID-19 relief package. As you know better than anyone, funding for I/DD supports and services are critically needed to keep individuals healthy and safe during the pandemic. Now is the time to loudly and clearly demand that Congress ensure these #ForgottenFaces are not overlooked!
The Ask: Use this email and call tool to ask your members of Congress to pressure their leadership to include increasing funding for the Medicaid Home and Community-Based (HCBS) Program and other I/DD services in the final COVID-19 package as negotiations continue.
The Priority:
- Dedicated funding for Medicaid Home and Community-Based Services to serve people with disabilities in their homes and communities and will provide better wages and support for the DSP workforce.
- Funding for state and local governments to shore up state budgets as they deal with pandemic expenses.
- Increased federal FMAP to help states pay for pandemic related expenses in the Medicaid system.
