ARRM Day is March 15, 2016
Each year advocates from around the state gather for ARRM's Day at the Capitol in St. Paul to raise awareness about important disability issues. ARRM's 2016 Day at the Capitol will be held on Tuesday, March 15th. Minnesota has a legacy of valuing and advancing essential community-based services. Funding in 2016 is critical to support people with disabilities and their caregivers, Direct Support Professionals.
Rally at The Armory
Due to construction at the Capitol, we will rally at The St. Paul Armory, just south of the Capitol grounds at 10:00 am. The address is 600 Cedar Street, Saint Paul, MN 55101. Legislative disability champions and leaders will be present to add to our loud voices. Make signs to hold up at the rally!
Our Main Message
Our main message is: “5% in 2016!” With the Best Life Alliance, ARRM is seeking a 5% rate increase in 2016 to to ensure quality services for people with disabilities and better compensation for their Direct Support Professionals.
Legislator Appointments
Before or after the rally, we encourage everyone to meet with their legislators to ask for a 5% rate increase and address other priorities affecting people with disabilities, their families, and those who support them. Stay tuned as the schedule of meeting times is published.
Telling Your Story
Your personal story is the most important piece of information legislators can come away with from your meeting. Before March 15th, ARRM urges you to prepare your story using our one-pager templates for staff, self-advocates and families. It is always good to prepare something in advance to leave behind for your legislator.
