Let’s make our voices heard! Please join us for Disability Services Day at the Capitol on March 28, 2023! This annual day of advocacy brings together more than 1,000 direct care staff, managers, family members, and individuals from across the state to unite together for a common cause!
This year is so important! We were so close on passing legislation last year—but we can’t wait any longer! It needs to be passed this year! We need you to share your story with legislators –they need to hear from you the impact COVID and lower wages has had on us. We need them to act earlier this session on higher wages for Direct Support Professionals.
The rally will begin at 10 am and meetings with our legislators will happen throughout the day. Please let us know if you plan to the rally or would like to meet with your legislator. We will inform you of your meeting time a week before the event.
You don't need to be an expert on the bills ARRM, our local trade association, is advocating for—just let your legislator know that your trade association is advocating for legislation that supports long-term sustainability for the disability community. Download ARRM's Legislative Agenda to learn more about the issues.

Documents to Prep You for Disability Day at the Capitol:
We’ll reference these in the meetings, but in case you can’t join us, we've attached below a parking map, map of the Capitol, ARRM’s legislative agenda, and worksheets to help you tell your story.
Parking Map - We recommend parking in lot AA or ramp F. Van-accessible parking spaces are available in the lot or on Aurora Avenue near the main south staircase. The best places for drop-off and pick-up are on Cedar Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
Map of the Capitol - The ground floor entrance under the front steps is wheelchair accessible. There are elevators right inside those doors.
ARRM's Legislative Agenda - The main bill we want to promote is the bill HF 999/ SF 1015, which will make long-term sustainable adjustments to the Disability Waiver Rate System (DWRS). You don't need to be an expert on the bills, but in case they ask, those are the bills. Refer them to ARRM, our local trade association for more detailed questions.
