Phoenix Celebrates 20th Golf Tournament
The Phoenix Residence returned to River Oaks Golf Course earlier this week to honor the 20th anniversary of this annual event.
The Phoenix Residence brought some new life to this year’s Russ Douglas Phoenix Golf Classic in honor of our 20th tournament—with new games, new attractions, and more sponsors and golfers than last year!
New this year! Not only did we add another betting hole, but we also added another driving game on the course featuring our emcee Dan Cole from KFAN 100.3 FM. Anyone who could outdrive the Common Man won the game!
After a busy day on the course, the golfers outbid each other in the silent auction, bought tickets to our raffle, and browsed our large selection of wine and beer. Furthermore, we moved the silent auction online, allowing golfers and those not at the event to bid and re-bid for items in real-time without having to leave their seat. Although a learning curve, this turned out be quite a success!
A couple other changes the golfers enjoyed included the addition of a live auction, golf scratch-off tickets, and a Craft Beer Wall, where golfers could build their own six-pack. The live auction–hosted by none-other-than Dan Cole—brought much excitement into the room.
Dinner and a short program also followed golfing where the Fritsch family—whose daughter Jackie lives at Carver House—shared about their experience with Phoenix. We also recognized long-term volunteers who have volunteered with this tournament for over 10 years.
