Event: Made in the Shade 5K Walk, Run & Roll

Where: Thomas Beach on Bde Maka Ska (Lake Calhoun)

9:30 am - Check-In at Thomas Beach
10:00 am - Program
10:20 am - Warm up for the walk lead by trainers from The Firm
10:30 am - Walk begins
11:00 am - Post-event celebration featuring lunch & music

Made in the Shade is our annual 5K walk supporting adults with disabilities. We join with six other organizations like us for this exciting day of celebration, friendships, and community-building.

After a 2-year hiatus from the in-person event, we hope you can join us this year for a day of fun with your loved ones and all the individuals we support! We'll have music, lunch & a warm-up prior to the walk. All of the funds raised go directly to the individuals we support. Each Phoenix Residence home decides how to use the funds, whether that is on music therapy, weekend trips, or new equipment needed in the home. We sincerely hope you will support us this year!

All are welcome to attend, so bring your friends and family! Don’t forget to stop by our registration table to sign up for a drawing of a $40 GIFT CARD TO TARGET just for showing up to our event! And don't forget to vote on your favorite pieces in this year's art contest! Starting the morning of, vote at the event or “like” your favorite piece on the Made in the Shade Facebook event page to count as your vote.

COVID UPDATE: 

Made in the Shade is a rain or shine event. As of now, please plan to attend Made in the Shade as planned and dress accordingly. A decision will be made the morning of if the event will be canceled due to weather.  Please keep an eye on our social media pages for updates on if the event is canceled. 

We realize that being outdoors is considered a low exposure risk. But because we are a licensed provider, we are requiring all staff to wear a mask (no need for eye protection since we are outdoors) if they are going to be within 6 feet of others. We are strongly recommending this for the individuals we support & family members as well. If you need a break or are eating, please step away from others for a few minutes to lower your mask.

Hand sanitizer and masks will be available at the event. Please see the attached flyer for more details about our policies per the CDC guidelines.

All sponsors will receive designated marketing promotions as listed and Made in the Shade T-shirts (amount varies by sponsorship level). Please note all donations of at least $25 will receive a T-shirt, so please be sure to include  your T-shirt size. Any donation is greatly appreciated!!

*We are keeping an eye on all COVID policies that are put in place by the city of Minneapolis. If need be, the event will go virtual if the city requires us to do so or COVID positivity rates soar. We will let you know of any event changes closer to the day.
