Janet Court Welcomes Larry Homan, a Mneme Therapist

Art class was recently in session at Janet Court! The individuals at Janet enjoy an art course once a month with Larry Homan, a Mneme Therapist from Art 4 All. Mneme Therapy provides a total rewarding experience; incorporating combinations of singing, movements, storytelling, praise, and of course painting. It focuses on whole brain synchronization which may stimulate neuroplasticity; the ability to create new neural pathways.

The paintings are created by using a process called Directed Painting – Larry gives the individuals the ingredients and tools to be successful; much like a cooking class. During each session, he starts with a song or a story and then each student selects the artwork of their choice. The finished artwork is then given to family members as gifts, hung throughout the house, or you may even see a few at the Central Office.
