Happy Holidays from The Phoenix Residence!

Below is the Holiday Letter we sent out. We hope you and your family a joyful and happy holiday season! 

Dearest Phoenix Supporters,

Happy Holidays! We wish you and your family the very best this holiday season and blessings in the New Year! As you think about what is important to you and your family, we hope you will consider The Phoenix Residence during this giving season.

In case you missed it, we wanted to reshare a story with you about one of the individuals we support and her incredible bond she had with her father. We are so grateful for the impact they have had on us here at The Phoenix Residence!

Meet Laura and her father Larry. Laura has lived at Phoenix, and most recently Douglas House, for over 20 years—but her father’s undeniable activism began long before that. Larry raised Laura as a single dad and made sure she had access to the best of everything, especially education and healthcare. Laura said she would not be who she is today without her father.

Larry always wanted Laura to be as independent as possible. He always advocated for her to have the latest technology in speech devices, so she could use her own voice. He informed her of all her options and let her make the decisions. Laura said he was very supportive with every choice she made. You can read all of Laura’s story here.

Unfortunately, we recently lost our friend Larry, but his passion, love and determination for his daughter will remain engraved in our memories forever.

This holiday season, we are raising money to Close the Gap, so we can provide our staff with the wages and benefits they deserve. When we have a strong workforce, we can provide better care to the wonderful individuals we support. You can help make this happen!
